Phoenix Centre Opening -19th of September 2015

On September 19, 2015 we opened the door to our most ambitious project to date - Phoenix Centre, the first day-centre for children with disabilities in Moldova.

At the opening ceremony, we welcomed: HM Ambassador of Great Britain in Moldova, Phil Batson; Prime Minister Valeriu Strelet of Moldova; Minister of Social Protection, Mircea Buga; Mayor Victor Bogatico of Riscani; and other local officials.

The main guests were our partners - CWUHA, CWU Ireland, Child AID, the Knight Templars of Romania, Excel Manufacturing, International Women's Club of Moldova, and representatives of the Communication Workers Union and British Telecommunications.

We were also honored to welcome Tom Keeny, British Telecommunications HR Manager and the Vice Chair of Benevolent Fund, Andy Kerr.

For some of these children, it was their first opportunity to see the outside world. From then on, the Phoenix Centre has become their second home.

It was an emotional day - one of great achievement - but merely the first step to carry on the challenging work we started.
