Delivering Medical AID
Every year, large amounts of medical equipment are thrown away, even though many hospitals around the world urgently need these resources. For the past 11 years, MAD-Aid has recycled and reused thousands of tons of medical furniture and equipment, helping reduce waste while supporting healthcare in Moldova. Many Moldovan hospitals struggle with old or broken equipment and cannot afford replacements without outside support. MAD-Aid collects donated, pre-owned, and ex-demonstration equipment from UK hospitals and gives it a new purpose in Moldova.
Items such as hospital beds and ultrasound machines now help patients and doctors in rural communities. This partnership benefits both countries: UK hospitals reduce storage and disposal costs, while Moldovan hospitals receive essential equipment that improves patient care and supports their healthcare system.
Full renovation of Hospitals
In Moldova, hospitals suffer from resource shortages and poor conditions, lack of 30+ years of investment of any sorts. Understanding the urgent needs of these, MAD-Aid has launched a comprehensive renovation program aimed at bringing significant change to the delivery of medical services and the quality of life for residents in these areas.
Through this program, MAD-Aid is dedicated to systematically transforming hospital wards into modern healthcare units, one by one. Equipped with state-of-the-art facilities and adequate infrastructure, these renovated wards are poised to significantly enhance medical services in Moldova. The project’s inception came with the stark realization of the poor condition of the only in entire country of a newborn surgery ward situated in the main children’s hospital of Moldova.
This partnership benefits both countries: UK hospitals reduce storage and disposal costs, while Moldovan hospitals receive essential equipment that improves patient care and supports their healthcare system.
The MAD-Aid team brings together construction experts and dedicated volunteers to commence renovation works. From repairing structures and upgrading equipment to improving sanitation conditions and installing water and electricity supply systems, every aspect is approached with care and professionalism.
The end result is a transformative hospital that provides superior medical services and serves as a vital healthcare hub for the entire community. Hospital renovation not only enhances access to essential healthcare but also supports the local economy and promotes sustainable development in rural areas of Moldova.
