From Inspiration to Impact: The MAD-Aid Journey
The Journey Began

MAD-Aid began with a simple mission—to deliver essential aid such as hospital beds and wheelchairs to those in need. On their first trip, founders Victoria and John were struck by the overwhelming scale of need. At one point, John admitted, “It’s beyond our capabilities.”

THINGS CHANGE

Everything changed when they met Alexandru, a nine-year-old boy with cerebral palsy who had just received his first wheelchair. Smiling, he said, “Now I can see the trees outside, not just the leaves from my bedroom window.” In that moment, Victoria and John knew they couldn’t stop.

They realized they had a choice—but many of the people they were helping did not. Even helping one child could change a life, and that was reason enough to continue.

GETTING BIGGER

Over a decade later, MAD-Aid has delivered more than 1,200 wheelchairs, supported isolated communities, and recycled large volumes of medical aid. The organisation has also built a care complex serving hundreds of disabled children each year, along with a high-quality care home for the elderly. Their work has even contributed to improvements in health and social care legislation in Moldova.

HELP THE WORLD

During the COVID-19 pandemic, MAD-Aid expanded its efforts, using Victoria’s logistics expertise and global network to support both the UK and Moldova. The team has also played a vital role in helping thousands of displaced Ukrainians—providing aid to those in Ukraine, sheltering in Moldova, and arriving in the UK.

Today, Victoria and John continue to lead MAD-Aid,
supported by a team of trustees, volunteers, ambassadors, and staff working together to keep making a difference.
