Opening a hydrotherapy pool at MAD-Aid’s Phoenix Complex for disabled children and young people in Moldova
We are currently building a hydrotherapy pool in the grounds of the Phoenix complex. Hydrotherapy develops physical wellbeing and enjoyment for children with disabilities and special needs. Hydrotherapy will also go a long way to strengthening their muscles and, for some, relieving ongoing chronic pain.
The pool is being built with major funding from the Soros Foundations, and donations from many organisations, businesses and people from across many continents, we expect completion during the summer of 2021.
The finished pool will be the first warm water, fully accessible pool in northern Moldova, able to provide 5000+ free hydrotherapy sessions to more than 400 disabled children and young people per year and swimming lessons for disadvantaged children in the local community. It will add greatly to the quality of life of the children and young people who use the Phoenix Centre and will be a valuable resource for local people.
